poem of the day
Don’t go far off, not even for a day, because — Don’t leave me, even for an hour, because Oh, may your silhouette never dissolve on the beach; because in that moment you’ll have gone so far Love Sonnet XLV
by Pablo Neruda
because — I don’t know how to say it: a day is long
and I will be waiting for you, as in an empty station
when the trains are parked off somewhere else, asleep.
then the little drops of anguish will all run together,
the smoke that roams looking for a home will drift
into me, choking my lost heart.
may your eyelids never flutter into the empty distance.
Don’t leave me for a second, my dearest,
I’ll wander mazily over all the earth, asking,
Will you come back? Will you leave me here, dying?

sink now onto this grail
Lies contrast onto blame
Our fate is savage; it’s laid in its frame
As she ambles to where the sea meets the shore
I tell her I never knew the difference between love and war
She looks at me inquisitively, as she purses her lips
I tell her the only difference there ever was is the movement of hips
Her screams beg louder to what she is about to forsake
My mind whispers softly how much of her soul can I take?
The grains of sand lain thick and concrete,
underneath footprints that were made to be discreet
But secrets have veracity and fiction alike
awaiting to slay its victim in the ominous night
hailing nothing is ever different between love and war
Only knowing both never ended in anything less than the one before

Explanation of my saturday night
All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they’re all I can see
I don’t know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all
